The Safety Lead will provide expertise and recommendations in the areas of safety, health and the environment in an effort to prevent and mitigate incidents and employee injuries and illnesses. Responsibilities will include the implementation and development of safe work procedures, the provision of safety training, and the provision of guidance and advice.


Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direct the activities of Site Safety Advisors;
  • Support the continued development, maintenance, implementation & improvement of the health, safety, and environment management systems;
  • Provide necessary training, leadership, organization, and control to meet Company and Customer goals;
  • Assesses specific HSE risks and defines the HSE plans, standards, procedures, metrics and accountability systems required as per company policies, client requirements and legislation;
  • Tracks compliance to ensure optimum minimization of risk;
  • Perform audits and inspections to give positive feedback and identify hazards at the workplace;
  • Compile management reports and assist with recordkeeping requirements;
  • Develops and leads Manager’s awareness and ensures that HSE is an integral part of Project Management responsibilities and objectives;
  • Provides planning, coordination, communication and active and visible support and delivery assurance for the HSE Systems including status, results, follow-up, and actions;
  • Monitors HSE compliance;
  • Monitors and analyzes HSE leading/lagging indicators, results, trends and performance indicators; ensuring remedial work plans address at-risk trends;
  • Assists the project team in the preparation of risk assessments and implementation of controls;
  • Identify and facilitate training and development requirements;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, apply professional judgment, and work with minimal supervision;
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
 
Qualifications
  • OHS, CRSP or NCSO designation required;
  • COR auditor certification preferred;
  • Valid Driver’s Licence;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the construction with an emphasis on the insulation segment preferred;
  • Advance knowledge and understanding of current construction and general industry safety regulations and the ability to analyze and interpret this data to promote the safety of employees, job sites, and the company;
  • Understand and have extensive knowledge of Federal & Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules;
  • Advanced knowledge of assessing training needs, creating training materials and delivering the training;
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate and promote personal and professional development;
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills;
  • Strong sense of professionalism; with the ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize sound judgment;
  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic EH&S goals;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Above average computer skills with the ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office.
