Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize and/or supervise the use of BrandTech® Precision Welding equipment, both at our branches and customer sites across Canada.
- Travel to company and customer locations throughout Canada frequently.
- Travel to BrandTech® headquarters in USA for training and future program updating.
- Work in refineries, chemical plants, fabrication shops, cement plants and other industrial facilities.
- Troubleshoot machine and welding related technical issues in the field.
- Communicate with BrandTech® headquarters and on-site team to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Assist in the layout, welding, and installation of anchors.
- Assist in the Quality Control Program with regards to welding activities
- Assist in the facilitation and ordering of machine parts and anchors.
- Assemble, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment.
- Test and calibrate equipment to ensure it meets specifications.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment going and returning from site prior to shipment and storage, respectively.
- Assist in management of parts and anchor inventory in Canada.
- Have a full understanding and utilization of our Quality Management System and required documentation.
- Stud welding of anchors.
- Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals.
- Running tests and interpreting results to make effective recommendations.
- Writing up reports, safety regulations, and preventative maintenance plans.
- Sourcing replacement parts.
- Repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
- Assist in Weld Procedure Development
- Fabricating any components required.
- Assist with managing, ordering, and inventorying BrandTech® consumables, anchors, and equipment.
- Complete receiving inspections on BrandTech® anchors.
- Assist with organizing and filing MTRs.
Qualifications:
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport within 60 days of employment.
- Experience as a technician in a technical field is an asset.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and repairs is an asset.
- CAD knowledge is helpful.
- Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields.
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight timelines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Must be available as needed to work at the assigned job site and may include weekends and holidays. Overtime is typically required on-site and during turnaround season.
- Punctual and ability to present oneself in a professional manner.
- Ability to travel 25-50% of the time
- Electronic welding expertise is an asset.
- High school diploma is required and post-secondary education / 2-year technical training such as electronics, mechanical is an asset.
- CWB Level 1 or 2 is an asset.
- Solid understanding of legislation and regulations in different jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of ASME, ASTM, API, ABSA, TSASK, and CSA standards and specifications is an asset.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office
Physical Demands
- Must be able to handle the physical demands that is required in the shop and field. Ability to maneuver heavy objects and handle 50 lbs.
- Long periods of standing and awkward positions should be expected.
- Given the potential dusty environment of the refractory industry, must be able to dawn a full-face respirator at times.
- Hot work is present
- Welding flash risk is present
